Band Biography

Sorrowseed’s Bio

Formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 2009, Sorrowseed burst onto the extreme metal scene as a dark, melodic force driven by apocalyptic mythos, crushing riffs, and theatrical ferocity. Pulling equal influence from Opeth, Amorphous, Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Behemoth, and other classic doom/death titans, the band welded melodic complexity with blackened death metal intensity to carve out its own niche.

Founded in New England by Joshua Carrig, Thomas Cyranowski, and Lilith Astaroth, Sorrowseed pushed into new territory in 2019, moving west to Las Vegas to continue its evolution under the leadership of Lilith Astaroth and Kadin Wisniewski

Sorrowseed’s debut double-disc saga The Extinction Prophecies (2011) established them as a storytelling metal powerhouse, selling strongly on indie circuits and gaining local airplay. Nemesis Engine (2017) represented a defining evolution for Sorrowseed, fusing heightened brutality with deeper melodic complexity and a decisive evolution in Lilith Astaroth’s vocal style. That trajectory continues with the release of ‘Incinerate,’ (December 2025) the first single from the upcoming EP Hydra, introducing a more refined and aggressive vision driven by Kadin Wisniewski’s writing. The Hydra EP is set for release in 2026.

Across these releases, Lilith’s visceral vocals ranged from tortured growls to eerie melodies, while Morte’s compositions blended melodic motifs with blackened aggression. Thomas’s keyboards added gothic layers early on, and Kadin’s guitar contributions evolved into a defining part of the band’s later sound.

Sorrowseed’s live history spans multiple tours across the United States and Canada, and international appearances in the UK, Greece, and the Phillipines.

Sorrowseed delivers live performances that are as technically precise as they are viscerally thrilling. With crushing riffs, intricate melodies, and dynamic, professional stage presence front and center, the band turns every venue into an arena of intensity.

Lilith Astaroth

Lilith Astaroth began making her mark on heavy music as a teenager — fronting her first band at just 15, where she taught herself guitar and started shaping her voice into an instrument of raw power and emotional range.

As the longtime frontwoman of Sorrowseed, Lilith is known for a diverse and commanding vocal style, shifting from searing gutturals and fierce shrieks to melodic, soprano-tinged passages with seamless agility. Her live performances are equally dynamic — aggressive, theatrical, and visually striking, rooted in a deep love of stagecraft and visceral connection with audiences.

With decades of experience across metal and performance art — including voice acting and classical vocal training — Lilith continues to push her own boundaries and redefine what extreme vocals can be.

Kadin Wisniewski

Kadin was inspired to pick up guitar for the first time at age 7 by watching footage of Jimi Hendrix, and in high school discovered his love of metal. He has played in various rock and metal bands since he was 14, and joined Sorrowseed in 2017 shortly after filling in for them on guitar during a summer tour that also featured one of his other bands, NYC-based Solemn Vision. He also plays guitar for Denver-based Oak, Ash & Thorn. Some of his biggest songwriting and guitar influences include Jeff Loomis, Mikael Åkerfeldt, Keith Merrow, and Michael Romeo.
